DUBLIN – June 21, 2018 – Dublin-based start-up, CliniShift is celebrating its third awards win of 2018 for its bespoke hospital communications software.
CliniShift scooped the top prize at Digital DNA upSTART 2018 in Belfast City this week, crowning a hat-trick of awards for the Dublin-based start-up. The pitch competition, hosted by Startacus, brings together top UK, Irish and European tech start-ups at the annual upSTART business and technology two-day conference. CliniShift’s success comes just months after founder and CEO, Aimée Madden, was named the winner of the 2018 Bolton Trust / PwC Innovation Awards and awarded the best start-up at the Dublin County Final of Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur (IBYE) competition.
Commenting on the award, Ms. Madden said, “Winning three prestigious technology start-up awards in a row against such high-quality competitors is truly inspiring for myself and my team. It reassures us that we’re on the right track to making a positive impact in the healthcare sector. It’s been my ambition and vision for many years to create a company that can change the face of healthcare through innovative technology solutions. Our overall goal is to repatriate the cost savings hospitals make by working with us back into patient treatment services.”
Ms. Madden, who has worked in the healthcare sector since 2006, founded Clinishift in 2015 as a software communications solution to hospital staffing problems. As the former chief executive of the Whitfield Clinic, a private hospital in Waterford, Madden discovered an enormous amount of time was spent trying to fill rosters in key functions within the hospital, with the problem particularly acute in specialist areas such as theatre nursing. To tackle the problem at Whitfield, Madden set up a group text messaging service to make quick contact with hospital staff when extra shifts needed to be filled.
From this small beginning, Madden launched CliniShift, a digital platform that enables hospitals to fill vacant shifts at short notice with appropriately qualified clinical staff. CliniShift is a disruptive technology which challenges the current reliance on high-cost agency staff. “With the CliniShift queuing system, we have developed an intelligent way to canvass staff in a convenient and seamless manner,” said Madden. “Our algorithms work to produce powerful request queues based on staff members booking patterns and their engagement with the App.”
Already in use in Ireland, CliniShift is set to launch pilot deployments in US and UK hospitals, where it hopes to see steady growth in the next two years. “As the CEO and Founder of CliniShift,” said Ms. Madden, ” I’m grateful to be part of this exciting journey we’re on and look forward to developing the company to be a best-in-class organization that will continue to add value well into the future. The next big strategic goal for us is to flag plant across the North American market. and through the help and support of Enterprise Ireland, we hope to achieve this.”
